The unique Excel business features of xOverTime make it easy for users to leverage powerful database capabilities and the cloud to store key business data, manage the distribution of that data and improve collaboration with others.
Most users will find the xOverTime Excel Add-in the most convenient way to take advantage of xOverTime. Login to xOverTime right from Excel, and instantly upload or download data using an xOverTime-provided template.
The upload and download templates in xOverTime align closely with a columnar data table format, with values in time allowed to extend to the side. Quickly define variables in a catalog and store data over time. The download template tells xOverTime which data to pull back down from the cloud; data you uploaded earlier, or data shared by colleagues or other business processes.
Use the xOverTme web interface to visualize, manage and share the data you have stored in the xOverTime database. Select a catalog to see trending of any of the variables in the catalog. Zoom in, scroll, export to a different Excel workbook, create a jpeg or further filter the data for analysis.
Variables in the xOverTime database are defined by users with their data uploads. A variable is the simple combination of a Measure and any number of dimensions. Every variable has an owner and many values over time, each with its own time stamp. You can define variables and upload data every minute, daily, monthly, annually or irregularly.
xOverTime uses catalogs to organize and manage variables. Share catalogs with other users and populate catalogs with only the variables that you want other users to see. This allows the owners of data to control who can access and download the information that they own.
xOverTime greatly simplifies the distribution of data to, and the collection of data from, others in your organization. No more email distribution of reports, and no more manual assembly of emailed spreadsheets. When you upload new data, xOverTime automatically notifies anyone who has subscribed to it.
It also gives you control over who has access to the data you store in the system. Want to know who is actually using the reports you share with them? You can get statistics on who is downloading your data and how often. The xOverTime dashboard can show you which data elements are most important to your organization and where that data is being used.
